Booking Villas and Apartments in Lanzarote For 2012

Thinking about booking your next break abroad? About 40% of all travel bookings are usually made during the month of January and despite the recession this year looks like being little different. As many consumers in the UK remain intent on enjoying their week in the sun despite the recession.

Lanzarote is one of those destinations that has been popular for many years, making it a safe choice for holidaymakers keen to soak up plenty of sunshine in familiar surroundings, as the island has been owned by Spain for centuries, with similar food and customs to the mainland. However the flying time from the UK is a little longer at around four hours, with all inbound planes touching down at Arrecife airport.
The beauty of Lanzarote is that it can be visited at any time of the year as a result of it location close to the Sahara desert off the coast of West Africa. Creating a dry and arid climate with very little in the way of rainfall. During the winter temperatures remain in the 20´s Celsius whilst in the summer months they reach into the 30´s. There can be a marked difference though between day and night time temperatures, especially during the winter months, reflecting the fact that this is very much a desert climate.

If you´re searching for villas in Lanzarote or apartments for rent then there are plenty of booking options available to you, with numerous websites offering accommodation. Get online and check out the different types of places you could stay as they vary from quiet rural retreats through to full blown luxury villas.

If you´re choosing to stay in the main resort then search for villas in Puerto del Carmen. This is the oldest destination on Lanzarote and the properties for rent here reflect that as they are usually larger and a little more expensive than those in other resorts on the island such as Playa Blanca and Costa Teguise.

Another good option is to head for the luxury marina of Puerto Calero, just five minutes drive away from Puerto del Carmen. As here you can enjoy a break in quieter and more luxurious surroundings but for much the same price. With villas in Puerto Calero costing from around €600 per week, depending of course on the time of the year and the size of your party.

Lanzarote is an ideal holiday destination so wherever you choose to stay make sure that you get the most from the island by hiring a car and exploring the key attractions.
